One of our first days of Orientation Week we were able to visit the Citadel and the Roman Amphitheater during our Amman city tour. This was one of our first experiences outside the AMIDEAST building and we were able to catch a glance of the sunset over the city from the top of the Roman Amphitheater! Photo credit: Pcolar, 2020

Exploring Rainbow Street downtown. This is a popular place to hang out since you can find everything from cafes to tourist shops and everything in between! Photo credit: Pcolar, 2020

Watching the sunset over Amman = the best way to end a day! As a frequent traveler, one of my favorite things to do is watch the sun set over a city, especially after a long day of studying Arabic. Although the sun sets early here (around 5 pm in the winter), it’s always a fun idea to find a study spot where you have a view of the city while the sun goes down. Photo credit: Pcolar, 2020

The view from outside Habibah where our group tried our first kanafeh! Kanafeh is a cheese-filled pastry that is extremely popular in Jordan and after we all tried it, we can tell why! It was so good that we even went back for more the next night. Photo credit: Pcolar, 2020

During our first weekend, our group spent a lot of time just wandering the city and exploring! Sometimes the best way to get to know a new place is to get lost, and we had a great time doing just that. Photo credit: Pcolar, 2020

Although we’ve only been in Amman for about a week now, I’m tempted to say my favorite part about this city is its endless supply of cafes. As a serious coffee addict, I’m overwhelmed by my options. I might just find a new study spot every day this semester! Photo credit: Pcolar, 2020
