Welcoming Our New Interns: Kelly Sangare

Kelly Sangare is from Utica College in upstate New York. She was raised in Rabat, Morocco, due to her father’s job. She is currently a senior majoring in International Studies and minoring in Government and Politics, with a concentration in Contemporary History and International Relations. The reason behind her major and career is her love for meeting new people and traveling to different countries while enacting change.

Growing up in Morocco and traveling to different countries has shaped Kelly to become multilingual. Kelly speaks fluent Arabic (Darija), French, understands Spanish, and loves to learn new languages. While growing up, Kelly had fun using these language skills; she loves using language to meet new people. Kelly went to KGS in Rabat, a British council-related school, that has helped her in maintaining her English skills in Morocco. After moving back to the United States, Kelly attended an International High School at Union Square where she was able to meet people from different backgrounds.

For a career later on in life, Kelly sees herself working internationally as a Foreign Service Officer or within the realm of diplomacy and embassy work. Anything that requires travel and meeting new people is something that brings Kelly joy.  She also wishes to have an organization that would help those who can’t afford to travel to explore the world. Kelly is graduating May of 2020 with a bachelor’s degree, and she is hoping to take a year off to travel and figure out the next steps in achieving her goals. She is very thrilled to work with AMIDEAST as it will help her to learn new skills and grow as a person. She is also excited to learn more about Middle Eastern countries.
