  1. Friday Market (Souq Al-Juma)

The Friday Market is a large weekly flea market downtown. It’s the ideal place to go if you forgot to pack something in your suitcase and the perfect stop after Friday lunch. Here you can find cheap brand-name clothing for only 1 or 2 JD! Make sure you pull out your best bargaining skills for this place! Photo credit: Pcolar, 2020

2. Bait Baladna

This is one of my favorite cafes in Amman! Located downtown with a beautiful view of the city, my friends and I have made it a habit to head down here after Thursday classes to watch the sunset over the city and unwind after a long week of school! Photo credit: Pcolar, 2020

3. Rainbow Street

Located in Jabal Amman, this street is popular for students because of the large selection of restaurants and pubs. Rainbow Street is one of the most walkable parts of the city, making it a great place to go if you want to wander around with friends! Photo credit: Pcolar, 2020

4. King Abdullah I Mosque

This stunning baby-blue dome is a trademark of the city, a must-see before you leave Amman! This mosque is unique because it is one of the only mosques in Jordan open to tourists. Don’t miss the chance to experience this place up close, with a complimentary cup of tea after your visit! Photo credit: Pcolar, 2020

5. Paris Circle

You can find some of the best cafes, restaurants, and shops in this area! Whether you spend the day exploring the neighborhood or hard at work in a café, Paris Circle is a sure bet to keep you busy! Photo credit: Pcolar, 2020

6. Cielo Cafe

Despite being a far drive from AMIDEAST, Cielo is easily my favorite café for studying. Located in Khalda, this place has the best drinks, the friendliest staff, and a cozy atmosphere. I never go more than a few days without stopping by here. Photo credit: Pcolar, 2020

7. Jadal Knowledge Center

Jadal Cultural Center is a unique place to study, read, draw, and relax. With an open courtyard and rooftop garden, you can get a much-needed break from the bustling city with some greenery (and maybe even some cute animals). The system here is different from other cafes: instead of buying a drink you pay for the time you spend there, with a free drink every hour. The first hour starts at 2 JD and is .5 JD from every hour after, but only up to 3.5 JD for the whole day! Photo credit: Pcolar, 2020

8. Habibah Sweets

One of the most delicious desserts you’ll find in Jordan is Kanafe, and the best place to get it is at the oldest Habibah in the city. Located downtown, there’s nothing like waiting in line for the sweet pastry and then eating outside in the courtyard behind it. You can’t go to Amman without experiencing this sweet treat! 9. Mecca Street in Um Al Summaq

Missing a certain cuisine of food while Jordan? You’re sure to find almost any type of food you’re looking for on this block, from Sushi to Mexican to BBQ! This international hub has everything, including great study cafes as well! Photo credit: Pcolar, 2020

10. Books @ Cafe

You can find Books@Café in two places, one being just a 10 minute walk from AMIDEAST and the other on Rainbow Street! The downtown location is worth the extra distance because it has a special 50% off discount for students! Either one has a great atmosphere for studying, snacking, or relaxing after class!
