ٱلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ

[as-salāmu ʿalaykum]

My name is Sejal! I am an American University student from the Chicago suburbs. I am studying French and Arabic in Rabat, Morocco this semester with Amideast. My first few weeks here have been incredible and I’m excited to share aspects of my journey!

One of my favorite aspects of life in Morocco is the way that the community cares for its cats. Rabat alone likely has thousands of feral cats living on the streets. For the most part, these cats are content. They are given food and water by the citizens, however they rarely receive veterinary care. Every cat I have encountered has been extremely friendly! Some are a bit distrusting, but most just want a little head scratch!
