"Songs that Follow You Through Rabat: A Playlist" by Lulu von Sauer

"Songs that Follow You Through Rabat: A Playlist" by Lulu von Sauer

Over the past two months of studying in Morocco, I’ve gotten really into Moroccan music. I created a playlist as a collection of some of my favorite songs, many of them recommendations from Moroccan friends who’ve introduced me to artists I might never have found on my own.

In particular, ElGrandeToto has pretty much become my go-to Moroccan rapper lately. His music is everywhere in Rabat, you hear it in taxis, hanging out in cafés, or just walking down the street. Something about his style feels really tied to the rhythm of the city, and the more I hear him, the more I get why everyone listens to him. He’s easily my favorite artist in Morocco right now.

This playlist includes a rich mix of rap, slow music and older Moroccan classics that I have listened to recently while studying in Rabat. Please enjoy :)

Lulu von Sauer is an American University and studied abroad in the Fall 2025 on Amideast’s Regional Studies in French program in Rabat, Morocco.
